Media Conference

We went with the year 13's which are studying A2 media.

During the conference the were a variety of talks about different media areas. The media magazine was spoken about, as there new issue had recently been issued. 

There were 4 talks; first talk was by Professor David Buckngham who spoke about modern marketing.

The second talk was by Robert McKillop who spoke about directing and editing.

The third talk was by Dr Laura Harvey who dpoke about celebrity culture and how it affects our generation.

The last talk was by Michelle Eastwood who spoke about the film that she had produced "In Our Name". 

Hunger Games: Catching Fire Cinema Trip

On November 26/13 our teacher took us to the cinema to watch the 2nd Hunger Games.

I liked the experience of going to the cinema because we were all together as a film group and watching a film in the cinema is much better than watching it in class.

I liked the film for 3 reasons: 

1) It kept me engaged the whole way through

2) The plot twist was good

3) I liked the film as it was an action/adventure genre.

Furthermore I also disliked the way it ended as it left us on a cliff hanger.

Assignment 4: Editing And Sound

What I Learned About Post-Production From Doing The Swede

I learned the following things about post-production while doing my swede:

1) I learnt that post-production is everything done after filming, so editing (adding different effects and voice overs).

2) I learnt how to use iMovie and all its features.

3) I learnt about all the different transitions that can be used and when its an appropriate time to use them. For example: fade to black.

4) I learnt how to add voice overs in over clips.

5) i learnt how to add an voice over.

6) I learnt that post-production can be time consuming as you need to re-watch whatever you do lots of times to check its right and all fits well.

7) I learnt how to add music over a clip and how to reduce the sound of music so both text and music can be heard.

8) I learnt how to reduce the time of the clip by making it faster and slower.

9) I learnt how to add photos in-between two clips.

10) I learnt that all the frames need to flow together to make the filming seem accurate.

What I Learned About Production From Doing The Swede

I learned the following about film production process by doing my swede:

1) I learnt that the lighting is vey important whilst filming, as it can create a different mood.

2) I learnt that the different angles/shots that you use is important depending on what kind of scene you want to show.

 

3) i learnt that natural lighting is not available for us.

4) I learnt that zoom and reverse zoom are an effective technique and used quite often.

5) I learnt to use a variety of shots and angles in appropriate scenes.

6) I learnt is that we need a lot of patience because it takes very long to film each scene .

7) I learned that the script and storyboard are very useful when filming to refer to as they help us keep organised .

8) I learnt that when filming a scene, only film what is necessary as its a waste of time to film things that are not needed.

9) I learnt that various shots have to be taken as you always find something in each take that you are not happy with.

10) I learnt about all the hard work that goes into getting the scene shot perfectly: lighting, sound, shot/angle etc.

What I Learned About Pre-production From Doing The Swede

I learned and completed the following things about film pre-production:
1) I learn't that pre-production consists of: script writing, making a storyboard, finding a location, props, costumes and actors.

2) I learn't that both the script and the storyboard link together with as they have numbers on each scene.

3) I completed the props,costumes and actors part and found out that a lot of research and organisation is needed. For example: finding out what costume will go with which scene for each character.

4) I learnt that sometimes props and costumes are needed to be made when they cannot be found.

5) I learnt that on the script you must write a full description of the scene,to help direct the filming.

6) I completed and learned that when doing props,costumes and actors , lots of photos are needed to show all the different things (objects and clothing's) used.

7) I completed the actors part and learnt that each character has a specific way that they look in each scene.

8) I learnt that you must make sure your character represents who you want them to be correctly, as this also shows what image we are trying to potray.

9) I learnt that everyone must work together to get things right. For instance the person writing the script and the person doing the storyboard must work together closely to match scenes together.

10) I also learnt that time is a key factor and its better to stick to a schedule to get things done efficiently. a lot of organisation is needed so that everything goes well.

I really enjoyed this video clip because it was fun and interesting

I especially enjoyed all the bright colours making every detail stand out even more 

I really enjoyed the different outfits they all wore as all their costumes and props were unique

New Key Term 1: 180 degree rule definition

The 180 degree rule is a guideline for the on-screen relationship between a character or another character/object in the scene. The camera should be kept on the imaginary 'axis', with the main character in the right frame and the second character on the left. The camera should stay on one side of this axis during the scene.
