Alternations Along The Way
Alternations from drafts 1 to 5.
Draft 1:
In draft one our opening sequence was set in her room, on the bus and on the road. We used a diary as a prop where she expressed her emotions and the main story was the main character was seeing her evil side everywhere. We also used a black and white effect over the first scene to show that she was having a flashback.
Draft 2:
In draft two we changed two of the locations. We also tried to change the beginning scene as we thought that in the first draft it didn't flow therefore we changed it her going to her room instead of already being there. We continued with the diary as a prop and the story stayed the same, and we kept the black and white effect.
Draft 3:
In draft 3 we kept to the same locations however we had to change the first scene and we took out the diary and instead we had her getting ready for her day out. We also got rid of the black and white effect, but the story remained the same.
However we had some issues and had no time therefore we were unable to finish editing and filming this draft meaning it was left incomplete.
Draft 4:
In draft 4 we kept the same locations but we changed the last one so that we could include a bus stop and an isolated area. We changed the story completely, as instead of seeing/being followed by her evil self she was now seeing her dead bestfriend. However it was unclear who this girl was which made the opening sequence quite confusing. We tried to use sound effects and some incidental music when the dead girl appeared in order to build up tension and to improve our opening sequence.
Draft 5:
In draft 5 we kept the exact same locations as draft 4. The story was slightly changed as the dead bestfriends costume had been changed and we made it alot more clearer to our audience of who this girl may be through the close ups of the photos you see in the beginning of both the dad bestfriend and the main girl Kathryn. We also used more incidental music and sound effects to emphasise when the dead girl appears, as we found this was what we were lacking and struggling with since draft 1. We also included more close ups of the room to help the audience learn about the main character to show that she is rebellious .
Overall, We are all very happy including myself, with all the changes we have made from drafts 1 to 5 as we feel that our opening sequence is much more clearer to our audience meaning that they understand our storyline we also believe that fixing the music was a big thing we did to improve our opening sequence as it plays a big part in a psychological thriller.
